Hi K-drama Insider 💫
Here’s what’s happening this week in K-drama Land, plus your next binge and a little fan fun along the way.
Let’s get into it.

What’s on our radar this week
📰 Industry Insight
TVING ramps up hiring and expansion 👀
TVING has been actively posting a wave of new roles across marketing, tech, product, and content — alongside hosting career events and industry activations.
From developer hiring and content strategy roles to in-person networking events and conference appearances, the platform is clearly investing in both its technology and its storytelling pipeline.
At the same time, TVING is seeing strong growth in other areas too — including a surge in sports streaming viewership, with KBO League usage reportedly up 30% early this season.
👉 Behind the scenes, this kind of activity often signals bigger moves ahead — from new content releases to broader platform expansion. It’s a reminder that behind every K-drama we watch, there’s an entire ecosystem growing just as fast.
🎶 OST Update
“Perfect Crown” expands its OST lineup 👀
Kakao Entertainment’s Perfect Crown continues to build out its soundtrack, with WOODZ set to release a new track, “EVERGLOW,” on April 25.
The song is expected to deepen the drama’s emotional arc as the relationship between IU’s Seong Huiju and Byeon Woo-seok’s Grand Prince Ian continues to evolve — starting softly with piano before building into a fuller, orchestral sound.
This follows the recent release of “Our Goodbye” by singer-songwriter HANRORO, which captures the quieter emotional moments between the leads.
🎬 In Production
A new Netflix drama is already generating buzz 👀
A new Netflix K-drama starring Ju Ji-hoon and Lee Jun-ho is already generating buzz, with filming set to take place in Singapore.
The series, currently titled Buy King, is now casting extras locally, with production scheduled from April 27 to May 6. The drama will explore the high-stakes world of South Korea’s elite families as they battle for control of powerful conglomerates.
Ju Ji-hoon is set to play the villain, while Lee Jun-ho takes on the role of his nephew and a third-generation chaebol heir. Directed by Jo Sung-hee (Space Sweepers), the series is expected to premiere in 2027.

🎬Premiering This Week
Shin Hae-sun returns in a new office romance
Shin Hae-sun is set to star in Filing for Love (premiering April 25th) a new tvN weekend drama alongside Gong Myung. The series follows a top audit specialist who is suddenly demoted and the team lead he clashes with — and eventually grows closer to.
Known for her versatility, Shin continues her streak of standout roles across genres, from the historical comedy Mr. Queen to the emotional Welcome to Samdal-ri, and most recently the darker, more psychological The Art of Sarah (also known as Lady Dua).
As reported in The Korea Herald, this time she’s intentionally shifting tone. After The Art of Sarah, she shared that she wanted something lighter and more refreshing — and Filing for Love looks to deliver just that, blending romance, workplace dynamics, and even hints of thriller and comedy.
Premiering April 25, 2026 on tvN, and likely to stream on Viki or HBO Max.
"To be honest, I liked my previous project ‘Lady Dua’ but it was quite dark," she said. "There were things I wanted to shake off, both personally and professionally. So I wanted to do something bright and light, and it just so happened that I could go straight into filming ‘Filing for Love.’ The timing was really good."

🥇 K-drama Word of the Week
There are so many words you hear again and again in K-dramas — and they often carry more meaning than a simple translation.
Gwaenchanh-a (괜찮아)
You’ll hear this all the time, and it can mean:
“I’m okay”
“You’re okay”
“It’s okay”
“Are you okay?”
Depending on the moment, it can be reassuring, comforting, or even quietly emotional — especially in those scenes where someone is trying to hide how they really feel.

🎭 Legend of the Blue Sea
This beloved 2016 K-drama, starring Lee Min-ho and Jun Ji-hyun, blends fantasy, romance, and folklore into a sweeping love story that transcends time. Inspired by a Joseon-era tale, the drama follows Heo Joon Jae, a charming modern-day con artist, whose life changes when he meets Shim Chung, a mermaid struggling to navigate the human world.
As their present-day story unfolds, it mirrors their past lives as a nobleman and a mermaid, where love once ended in tragedy. Now, they must confront fate itself and determine whether their story is destined to repeat… or finally find a different ending.
👑 Alchemy of Souls
In honor of Go Youn-jung’s birthday on April 22, revisit one of her standout fantasy roles in Alchemy of Souls (2022–2023).
Set in the fictional nation of Daeho, this fantasy romance follows a young sorceress-assassin navigating a world shaped by the forbidden spell known as the “Alchemy of Souls,” which allows souls to switch bodies. The story centers on Nak-su, an elite assassin whose soul becomes trapped in the fragile body of Mu-deok, and Jang Uk, a nobleman who becomes both her student and her unexpected ally.
Known for its intricate plot, sweeping magical elements, and compelling romantic chemistry, Alchemy of Souls remains a fan-favorite for a reason.
