Welcome back, K-drama Insiders! 💫
It’s time to catch up on all things K-drama.
Last week, I was trying to decide between Agent Kim Reactivated for some action-comedy energy or switching gears completely with the historical romance Captivating the King. Since Agent Kim Reactivated is being released weekly, there’s a lot of time between episodes… so I chose both.
As a result, I am exhausted today. Why? Because I was up until 1 a.m. completely captivated by Captivating the King.
It’s one of those “I’ll just watch the first five minutes of the next episode” dramas, and two hours later you’re wondering what happened. Like most sageuk (Korean historical dramas) it’s filled with high drama, tension, political maneuvering, nail-biting backstabbing, and slow-burn forbidden love.
Meanwhile, Agent Kim Reactivated started out mild-mannered, but it looks ready to ramp up into a high-octane, action-packed revenge thriller. Hop on board!

✨ K-Drama Classic Turns 11
This week, Studio Dragon celebrated the 11th anniversary of one of its most beloved romantic comedies, Oh My Ghost.
Starring Park Bo-young, Jo Jung-suk, and Kim Seul-gi, the 2015 hit follows a shy assistant chef whose life is turned upside down after she's possessed by a playful ghost determined to experience romance before moving on.
Blending supernatural fantasy, laugh-out-loud comedy, and heartfelt romance, Oh My Ghost remains one of those timeless K-dramas that's just as enjoyable on a rewatch as it was the first time around.
💜 If you've never seen it, consider adding it to your weekend watchlist—you'll see why it's still celebrated more than a decade later. It’s available on TVING, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Viki.

CJ ENM Brings More Korean Stories to Global Audiences
CJ ENM is continuing its global expansion with the launch of six Thai adaptations of popular Korean dramas on Amazon MX Player in India beginning July 2.
The lineup includes local adaptations of Good Doctor, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?, Signal, Start-Up, Happiness, and Black Dog (released as Thank You Teacher).
The announcement follows CJ ENM’s participation in KISF 2026, where the company highlighted its next phase of K-content growth across global formats, fan platforms, and AI-assisted production. Together, the two updates show how CJ ENM is turning Korean stories into a broader global content ecosystem — one that extends beyond hit dramas into local adaptations, K-variety formats, K-pop platforms, and new production technology.

🧠 K-drama Word of the Week
사극 (Sageuk)
사극 (sageuk) literally means "historical drama." Most sageuk are set during Korea's Goryeo or Joseon dynasties and feature everything from royal courts and political intrigue to sweeping romances and epic battles.
Not all sageuk are the same. Some stay relatively grounded in history, while others blend historical settings with fantasy, time travel, or fictional storylines.
If you've been curious about diving into historical K-dramas but weren't sure where to start, I've put together two new resources:
📖 What Is a Sageuk? – Learn the different types of sageuk, how historically accurate they really are, and why so many fans love the genre.
