Happy Halloween, K-drama Insiders! 🎃

The past two weeks I haven’t had a chance to get the newsletter out. But I have the perfect excuse! I’ve been busy exploring Seoul, and the surrounding area, looking for fascinating neighborhoods, discovering delicious restaurants, and gathering travel tips and recommendations to share with you. So, stay tuned as I gather my notes and create some great itineraries and travel guides!

As Korean Drama Insider continues to grow, I am actively seeking new opportunities to bring you more original, in-depth, and exciting firsthand coverage from across the K-culture spectrum. There's much more to come! In the meantime, please share this newsletter with friends and family who love K-dramas, K-music, K-beauty, and all things K-culture!

What I've Been Watching

For most of the past two weeks, I would return to my hotel completely exhausted, but of course I made time to watch a few K-drama episodes. After finishing Four Hands, Two Sonatas, which lived up to the hype, I started Eve. Thanks to two very long plane rides, I was able to watch all 16 episodes and I loved it. The more I watched, the more I found myself in that “just one more episode” loop.

Starring Seo Yea-ji, Park Byung-eun, and Yoo Sun, this drama follows Lee Ra-el, brilliantly portrayed by Seo Yea-ji, a woman driven by a devastating past who has spent more than a decade orchestrating the ultimate downfall of one of the nation's most elite families.

If you like revenge thrillers with morally ambiguous characters, well-choreographed manipulation plots, and dangerous romantic entanglements, you’ll love Eve. It has these elements, along with many of the same intense psychological thriller elements found in Dear X and Siren’s Kiss. All of these slowly construct and unveil their plots in a way that makes the viewer continually reassess what they know about the characters and their motivations.

I would place Eve firmly in the adult-themed K-drama category. Thank you to my friend who recommended it!

The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Returning for Seasons 2 and 3

Good news for fans of Netflix's hit medical drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call! The series is returning for not one, but two additional seasons, with Ju Ji-hoon and Choo Young-woo reprising their leading roles.

The medical drama follows brilliant trauma surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk (Ju Ji-hoon), who joins a struggling university hospital trauma team and works to transform it into a lifesaving emergency unit.

Director Lee Do-yoon will also return for the upcoming seasons. Netflix has not yet announced premiere dates.

🔥 Weekly Buzz Watch: Doctor X Takes the Lead!

Following the conclusion of Four Hands, Two Sonatas and its six-week reign at No. 1, Doctor X surged eight places to top FUNdex's TV-OTT drama buzz chart with a 22.91% share. Its star Kim Ji-won also claimed No. 1 on the performer rankings.

100 Days of Deception climbed five places to second with 20.84% of measured buzz, while Between Steps rose to third with 12.24%. Together, these three dramas accounted for 55.99% of total measured drama buzz.

On the streaming side, three Korean scripted dramas appeared in Netflix's Global Top 10 Non-English Shows for October 12–18. Doctor X: Mafia in White ranked No. 1, followed by Take Charge of My Heart at No. 2 and 100 Days of Deception at No. 4. On Prime Video, A Love Other Than Yours ranked No. 7 among all Prime Original series and No. 1 among non-English Originals.

Star-Studded Tantara Sets December 11 Netflix Premiere

Netflix has officially confirmed December 11, 2026, as the premiere date for Tantara, bringing together an impressive lineup of Korean entertainment talent. Leading the cast are Song Hye-kyo (The Glory) and Gong Yoo (Guardian: The Lonely and Great God), joined by Lee Ha-nee, Seolhyun, Cha Seung-won, and Na Moon-hee.

Set against South Korea's entertainment industry from the 1960s through the 1980s, the drama follows two childhood friends who overcome poverty to pursue their dreams in the music business. The talent behind the camera is equally impressive. Acclaimed screenwriter Noh Hee-kyung (Our Blues, Dear My Friends) teams up with director Lee Yoon-jung (Coffee Prince, Cheese in the Trap).

With such a remarkable combination of established actors and celebrated creators, Tantara is shaping up to be one of Netflix's most anticipated Korean dramas of the year.
